Ukraine and Russia Exchange Record Drone Strikes in Largest Aerial Confrontation Since Conflict Began

Recent developments in the Russia-Ukraine conflict indicate a lack of progress in negotiations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered a face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkey, but Putin rejected the proposal in favor of alternative direct negotiations. These talks in Istanbul, however, were cut short after less than two hours and failed to produce a 30-day cease-fire sought by Ukraine and its Western allies. Both sides agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war.
