Climate Change

US climate pollution falls in 2023 as country closes coal plants

America's greenhouse gas emissions fell 1.9 percent in 2023, in large part because coal burning fell to its lowest level in half a century. The decline means that U.S. emissions have now fallen 17.2 percent since 2005.
