US airstrikes in Syria kill 37 militants affiliated with extremist groups
ai generated text
The United States military has conducted strikes in northwestern Syria, resulting in the deaths of at least 37 militants affiliated with the Islamic State group and an al-Qaeda-linked group. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), two separate strikes took place, one of which targeted a Daesh training camp on September 24, killing at least 28 people, including four senior leaders. The strikes also killed nine "terrorist operatives" in a separate attack. Two senior militants were identified as being among the dead, with one reportedly responsible for overseeing military operations. The US military has approximately 900 troops in Syria as part of the international coalition.
The airstrike will disrupt ISIS' capability to conduct operations against U.S. interests, as well as our allies and partners.
These strikes against leadership and operatives of ISIS (Daesh) and the al-Qaida affiliate, Hurras al-Din, represent CENTCOM's commitment to the enduring defeat of terrorist organizations in the CENTCOM area of responsibility and our support to regional stability.
