US Revokes Some Export Licenses for Selling Semiconductors to Huawei
The US Commerce Department has restricted the sale of American technology to China's leading high-tech firm, Huawei Technologies. As a result, Intel and Qualcomm have had their export licenses revoked, meaning Huawei will no longer be able to purchase chips from either company. This move comes after Huawei released its first AI-enabled laptop, the MateBook X Pro. The export ban has been in place since 2020, requiring companies to obtain government approval on a case-by-case basis before shipping parts to Huawei.
