US Military General CQ Brown Terminated from Position as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
Donald Trump has abruptly fired General Charles "CQ" Brown as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a move that is likely to cause significant disruption at the Pentagon. Brown, a highly experienced officer and the second black general to hold the position, was thanked by Trump for his over 40 years of service. Trump's decision has been met with widespread surprise, particularly as it comes amidst a broader effort by the president to purge military leadership. The position of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will be filled by Lieutenant General Dan "Razin" Caine, a highly decorated and experienced officer who has previously served as associate director for military affairs. Caine has also been praised by Trump for his accomplishments, including being an "accomplished pilot, national security expert, and successful entrepreneur".
I want to thank General Charles 'CQ' Brown for his over 40 years of service to our country, including as our current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is a fine gentleman and an outstanding leader, and I wish a great future for him and his family.
General Caine is an accomplished pilot, national security expert, successful entrepreneur, and a 'warfighter' with significant interagency and special operations experience.
First of all, you got to fire the chairman of joint chiefs.
Under President Trump, we are putting in place new leadership that will focus our military on its core mission of deterring, fighting and winning wars.
The incumbents in these important roles, Admiral Lisa Franchetti and General James Slife, respectively, have had distinguished careers. We thank them for their service and dedication to our country.
