US Imposes Sanctions on Chinese Firms for Aiding Russia in Ukraine Conflict
The United States has imposed sanctions on two China-based companies and a Russian company, as well as their owner, in connection with their alleged involvement in supplying drones to Russia. The sanctions target Redlepus Vector Industry Shenzhen Co Ltd and a Chinese company that manufactures the engine powering Russia's Garpiya series long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as a Russian company and its owner, Artem Yamshchikov. The US Treasury Department accuses the Chinese firms of directly supporting Russia's war effort and providing arms supplies to Moscow, which has been a long-standing accusation by the US against China. The sanctions also include the seizure of property and interests within US control belonging to the Russian company and its owner. This move comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky outlined his "victory plan" against Russia, indicating a significant escalation in the conflict.
The U.S. makes false accusations against China's normal trade with Russia, just as it continues to pour unprecedented military aid into Ukraine.
This is (the) typical double standard, and extremely hypocritical and irresponsible.
Please don't ease the pressure of sanctions on Russia - it truly helps.
Putin should respect our strength, not have the free world tremble at his threats.
Russia has used the geopolitical uncertainty caused by Ukraine not being in Nato.
We propose placing on Ukrainian land a deterrence package that would either force Russia to participate in real peace negotiations or allow for the destruction of their military targets.
The Garpiya has been deployed by Russia in its brutal war against Ukraine, destroying critical infrastructure and causing mass casualties.
This was the first time we actually saw a Chinese company manufacturing a weapon itself that then was used on the battlefield by Russia.
While the United States previously imposed sanctions on [People's Republic of China] entities providing critical inputs to Russia's military-industrial base, these are the first US sanctions imposed on PRC entities directly developing and producing complete weapons systems in partnership with Russian firms.
We have seen for some time Chinese companies providing components to Russian companies that Russian companies then use to turn into machinery, weapons, other components that Russia could use in its war.
Russia increasingly relies on the expertise of foreign professionals and the import of sophisticated technologies to sustain its weapons program.
