US Deports Alleged Gang Members to El Salvador Despite Ongoing Court Challenge
According to President Nayib Bukele, more than 200 immigrants, including members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and MS-13, were flown to El Salvador despite a US federal judge temporarily blocking the expulsions. The deportations took place at the 40,000-person capacity "terrorism confinement centre" in El Salvador, with the US paying the country to hold the deportees. Venezuela's government criticized the move, calling it an attempt to "criminalize" Venezuelan migrants.
