US Authorises Ukraine to Deploy Antipersonnel Landmines Against Russian Forces in Certain Areas

The Biden administration has shifted its policy on supplying Ukraine with American anti-personnel land mines. Initially, the US had restrictions on the use of these mines, but with Russia's changing tactics and pushback of Ukraine's army in the eastern Donetsk region, the US has decided to allow Ukraine to use the mines to slow down Russia's progress. The US Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, stated that Russian ground troops are now leading the movement on the battlefield, making the mines a more effective countermeasure.
