UN reports alleged rape and torture of Israeli hostages by Hamas
A UN team led by Special Envoy on Sexual Violence in Conflict Pramila Patten visited Israel and the West Bank between January 29 to February 14 and reported "clear and convincing information" of ongoing sexual violence against hostages in Gaza, including rapes and sexualized torture.
There seems to be a consensus among UN officials and Israeli authorities that sexual violence was committed during the October 7 attacks, but there are differing reports regarding the involvement of UNRWA staffers in the attacks. The cease-fire negotiations continue with humanitarian aid as a key point of contention.
