Myanmar Junta
UN chief urges return to civilian rule in Myanmar on third anniversary of coup
The UN appeal comes a day after Myanmar's embattled junta extended a state of emergency for six months. The state, which was due to expire at midnight, was kept in place to "continue the process of fighting terrorists." More than 4,400 people have been killed in a military crackdown since security forces rounded up Suu Kyi and lawmakers from her NLD party.
