UN Human Rights Council Demands Accountability for Possible Israeli War Crimes

The United Nations Human Rights Council passed a resolution calling for Israel to be held accountable for possible war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Gaza Strip. The vote took place with 28 countries in favor, 13 abstentions, and six oppositions. This marks the first time the UN's top rights body has taken a position on the conflict that has been ongoing for nearly six months. The resolution came after Israel opened new food corridors into Gaza following unprecedented US pressure.
