UN Court Hears Case on Germany's Role in Israel's Alleged Gaza Genocide

Preliminary hearings commenced at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague on Monday, with Nicaragua bringing a case against Germany for allegedly facilitating acts of genocide and violations of international humanitarian law towards Palestinians in Gaza. This comes after previous accusations by South Africa in January. Nicaragua argues that Germany's political, financial, and military support to Israel contributes to the situation, making it complicit in these crimes. Germany is the second-largest supplier of arms to Israel and its actions indirectly support Israel's 6-month-old military campaign. The ICJ case aims to halt German military aid to Israel. Other organizations, such as Triestino Mariniello's legal team and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), have also attempted to prosecute Israel for genocide at the ICJ.
