UK unveils plans to expand nuclear power to boost energy independence
Mini nuclear power stations to be allowed almost anywhere outside built-up areas. Under plans to quadruple capacity over the next quarter century, ministers want a fleet of "small modular reactors" to be built across Britain alongside large power stations. The civil nuclear roadmap includes a £300 million ($382 million) investment to produce an advanced uranium fuel.
