UK PM lays out bid to become AI world leader
ai generated text
Premier Keir Starmer is set to unveil a comprehensive plan to establish the UK as the world leader in artificial intelligence, with the goal of unleashing AI across the entire country and harnessing its potential to drive growth and efficiency in the public sector. The plan, dubbed the "AI Opportunities Action Plan", comprises 50 recommendations aimed at streamlining regulations and attracting a significant influx of investment in AI technology to the UK, with the Prime Minister himself describing it as "the greatest force for change in the world right now".
AI does have the potential to transform public services, but Labour's economic mismanagement and uninspiring plan will mean Britain is left behind.
It's a disruptive technology, like many other previous technological waves.
From teachers personalising lessons, to supporting small businesses with their record-keeping, to speeding up planning applications, it has the potential to transform the lives of working people.
I think it is important to recognise that we've got freedom now in relation to regulation, to do it in the way that we think is best for the UK.
We can go our own way, taking a distinctively British approach that will test AI long before we regulate, so that everything we do will be proportionate and grounded in the science.
I am determined to harness it to usher in a golden age of public service reform.
Artificial Intelligence will drive incredible change in our country.
AI is the greatest force for change in the world right now.
Mark my words, Britain will be one of the great AI superpowers.
