Post-Brexit Youth Mobility
UK Declines Youth Mobility Deal Proposal from EU
The European Commission proposed a post-Brexit deal that would allow young Britons to live, study, or work in the EU for up to four years. However, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak rejected this surprise proposal on Friday. The European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, made the suggestion during a press conference and called for all 27 EU nations to open negotiations on a "youth mobility scheme." Meanwhile, the opposition Labour Party in the UK has also ruled out the possibility of an EU-wide scheme. The UK government is open to agreeing to youth mobility schemes with international partners but has not indicated support for an EU-specific arrangement.
