U.K. parliament approves "first smoke-free generation" bill

The U.K. lawmakers have passed a new bill, known as the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which is set to make England's anti-smoking laws among the strictest in the world. The key provision of this bill is that it would prohibit the sale of tobacco products to individuals born on or after January 1, 2009. This means that people currently turning 15 years old or younger will never be able to legally purchase tobacco in England. If the bill is enacted into law, the minimum age for buying cigarettes in England would increase by one year.
