Typhoon Yagi wreaks havoc in Vietnam, killing at least 152 people

Typhoon Yagi made landfall in northern Vietnam on Saturday, bringing with it winds of over 149 kph (92 mph) and causing widespread destruction. The storm resulted in significant loss of life, with reported death tolls ranging from 152 to 179 people, and 145 people missing. The government has advised schools in Hanoi to remain closed for the week due to the severity of the storm. Thousands of people were evacuated from the capital city, Hanoi, as the water level in the Red River rose to a 20-year-high. The storm caused significant flooding and landslides, with knee-high floods reported in several northern provinces. The aftermath of the storm saw flood waters reach a meter high in parts of the city, with 10 of Hanoi's 30 administrative districts on "flood alert".
