Two years after devastating earthquake, survivors still struggle with loss and hardship
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in southern Turkey on February 6, 2023, resulting in widespread destruction and loss of life. The disaster destroyed or damaged hundreds of thousands of buildings across 11 provinces and caused approximately 20,000 deaths in the Antakya region. A second powerful earthquake also occurred in the aftermath. In addition to the loss of human life, the earthquake also caused significant damage to buildings and infrastructure.
