Two high-profile Iranian judges killed in Tehran in what officials call a "planned assassination"

Two senior Iranian judges, Ali Razini and Mohammad Moghiseh, were killed in a planned assassination at the Palace of Justice in Tehran. The attacker, who was armed with a handgun, entered the room where the judges were and shot them, also injuring a guard. The judiciary has described the incident as a "planned assassination." No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Both judges were prominent hardline judges who had been involved in handling death penalty cases, including for activists and opposition members. They had also been accused of involvement in the mass execution of dissidents in 1988.
