Turkey Blocks Access to Instagram Over Removal of Hamas Chief Posts

Turkish authorities blocked access to Instagram on Friday, with the Information and Communication Technologies Authority citing a failure to remove unlawful posts as the reason. However, Yeni Safak newspaper reported that the block was in response to Instagram removing posts by Turkish users. Fahrettin Altun, a Turkish official, accused Instagram of blocking condolence posts related to the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, with Altun describing the move as "censorship, pure and simple".
