Trump returns to New York criminal court for jury selection

Former President Donald Trump made history by appearing as a defendant in a criminal trial at the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York on April 15. The trial, which is the first of its kind for a former U.S. president, concerns payments allegedly made to keep quiet his alleged affairs with adult film star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougall. The jury selection process began on Monday, with 96 potential jurors being asked if they could be impartial in the case. Fifty of these individuals raised concerns and were excused. The district attorney presented the case against Trump for hush money payments on the second day of the trial as lawyers continued their efforts to select a panel of twelve New Yorkers to decide on his guilt or innocence.
