Trump election case paused in Georgia

A Georgia appeals court has temporarily paused the criminal case against Donald Trump, who is accused of attempting to subvert the 2020 election in the state. The pause comes as Trump appeals a judge's ruling allowing lead prosecutor Fani Willis to remain on the case. This development prevents the case from moving forward towards trial while the appeal is considered. The Georgia Court of Appeals will hear the appeal on October 4. Notably, this is not the first time Trump has attempted to disqualify Willis; in March, a judge rejected his bid after revelations about her romantic relationship with a special prosecutor she hired. As a result, it appears unlikely that the case will go to trial before the November 5 election.
