Trump Presses Jordan to Accept Palestinian Refugees from Gaza Amid Ongoing Conflict and Regional Tensions
The US President, Donald Trump, has proposed a plan to relocate the population of the Gaza Strip to other countries in the region, including Jordan and Egypt.
King Abdullah II has rejected the plan, and instead suggested that the US and Jordan consult with other Arab nations, including Egypt, on a potential solution. The king has also stated that Jordan will take in 2,000 sick children from war-torn Gaza, but has made it clear that his country will not take in the entire population of the Gaza Strip.
The US has threatened to withhold aid to Jordan and Egypt if they refuse to accept the displaced Palestinians, but has so far backed down on this suggestion.
