Trump Campaign Accuses Labour of US Election Interference
The Labour Party has sent approximately 100 current and former staff members to the United States to volunteer for Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, in key battleground states. The Trump campaign has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging that these efforts constitute illegal foreign interference. The Labour Party maintains that these individuals are acting as volunteers and not receiving any compensation, which is permitted under US law. However, the Trump campaign argues that the party's involvement in the US election amounts to foreign interference, and therefore, is a violation of US election law. The Labour Party rejects these allegations, and its leader, Sir Keir Starmer, has denied that this would harm relations with the Trump administration.
We had a good, constructive discussion and, of course as prime minister of the United Kingdom I will work with whoever the American people return as their President in their elections, which are very close now.
That's perfectly normal for supporters of one party in one country to campaign for a sister party in another. I've seen Americans here in our election as well, but none of this has been organised or paid for by the Labour Party. It's individuals choosing to spend their own free time and their own money in the way that they choose.
It's certainly not unusual for President Trump to use colourful language. But as I said, the key point here is that our prime minister will work closely with whoever the American people elect as their President next month.
Some private individuals are choosing to spend their own money and their free time campaigning in the US during the election.
To protect our democracy from illegal foreign influence, it is imperative that the Federal Election Commission … investigate this matter immediately.
In two weeks, Americans will once again reject the oppression of big government that we rejected in 1776.
When representatives of the British government previously sought to go door-to-door in America, it did not end well for them.
In recent weeks, they have recruited and sent party members to campaign for Kamala in critical battleground states, attempting to influence our election.
The far-left Labour Party has inspired Kamala's dangerously liberal policies and rhetoric.
