Thousands flee as Syrian insurgents claim to reach key city of Homs

Rebel forces have been making significant gains in Syria, capturing key cities and pushing the government's forces back. The Islamist group leading the assault has liberated the last village on the outskirts of Homs, the country's third-largest city, and has also seized the southern city of Daraa, near Jordan.
