Thousands evacuated in northern Philippines as Typhoon Yinxing makes landfall

Typhoon Yinxing made landfall in the Philippines, marking the 13th storm to affect the disaster-prone region in 2024. The storm had maximum sustained winds of approximately 144 miles per hour, categorizing it as a Category 4 storm. Over 21,000 people were evacuated prior to landfall, and disaster-response teams are on alert as villagers return to emergency shelters. The storm is the third to threaten the Philippines in less than a month, following Severe Tropical Storm Trami which resulted in 158 fatalities.
