Teen's death linked to participation in One Chip Challenge due to pre-existing heart condition

A 14-year-old boy from Worcester, Massachusetts, Harris Wolobah, died on September 1, 2023, due to cardiopulmonary arrest. An autopsy report suggests that his death was caused by a high dose of spice in a chip he consumed as part of the "one chip challenge." The chip, produced by Paqui, contained Carolina Reaper and Naga Viper peppers. Harris's mother reportedly picked him up from school after receiving a call from the nurse, stating that he had no known medical conditions at the time.
