Taylor Swift Endorses Kamala Harris for US President After Debate Display
Taylor Swift has publicly endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris for president in the 2024 US presidential election. Swift, who has over 280 million followers, made her announcement on Instagram, calling Harris a "steady-handed, gifted leader" who fights for the rights and causes that Swift believes need a warrior to champion. Swift's endorsement was made shortly after the presidential debate between Harris and Donald Trump, and her post received over 2.3 million likes within a half hour. Swift also used the opportunity to clarify her stance in light of AI-generated images that falsely depicted her supporting Trump. In her post, Swift signed as "Childless Cat Lady," a reference to rhetoric used by Trump's running mate JD Vance. This is not Swift's first time endorsing a Democratic candidate, as she also backed Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
Let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25 per cent less now, OK?
President Trump is going to continue to fight for hardworking Americans, the forgotten men and women of this country who don't have the luxury of living in private gated communities and need their local law enforcement.
This is further evidence that the Democrat Party has unfortunately become a party of the wealthy elites.
It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter.
I'm voting for [Harris] because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.
I need to be on the right side of history.
Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight.
I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.
The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.
After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?
As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies.
In the past I've been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.
It's just that I can't not at this point. Something is different in my life, completely and unchangeably different since the sexual assault trial last year. No man in my organization or in my family will ever understand what that was like.
Whether Swift's endorsement changes voter intentions is difficult to determine.
No surprise at all, she endorsed Biden and Harris in 2020 so we already knew her politics.
