Taiwan says China held combat patrol around island after latest US arms sales

The United States has approved a potential $2 billion arms sale package to Taiwan, which includes the delivery of an advanced air defense missile system. China has strongly condemned and opposed the sales, stating that it will take "all necessary measures" to assert its sovereignty. China has deployed fighter jets and drones as part of a "joint combat readiness patrol" in response to the US decision. Taiwan's defense ministry has detected Chinese aircraft on multiple occasions, with 19 detected on Sunday.
