Syrian Interim Leader Calls for Lifting of Global Sanctions to Contribute to Regional Peace Efforts

Ahmed al-Sharaa, the head of Syria's new administration, has stated that the country aims to contribute to regional peace. Al-Sharaa has met with a US delegation, describing the meeting as "positive". Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has also met with Al-Sharaa, emphasizing the need for unity and stability in Syria. The two officials called for the lifting of international sanctions against Syria. Rebuilding the country is the top priority, according to Al-Sharaa. Intelligence agencies are concerned that the territory may become a jihadist sanctuary once again, despite the Assad regime's fall.
