Sydney knife attacker may have targeted women, Australian police say

A 40-year-old man identified as Joel Cauchi carried out a knife rampage at Westfield Bondi Junction mall in Sydney on Saturday afternoon, resulting in six fatalities and injuring twelve people. Five of the deceased and the majority of those injured were women. Police Commissioner Karen Webb expressed concern over the apparent targeting of women during the attack, stating "The videos speak for themselves, don't they? That's certainly a line for inquiry." The attacker was shot and killed by police after the incident. Authorities have ruled out terrorism as a motive and confirmed that Cauchi had a history of mental illness.
