Suspect in apparent Trump assassination attempt was near golf course for 12 hours

Ryan Routh, a 58-year-old man, has been charged with two gun-related crimes in connection with an alleged assassination attempt on Donald Trump at his Florida golf course. Routh was hiding in bushes for nearly 12 hours before Trump arrived on the course, but he never had Trump in his line of sight and did not fire any shots. An agent spotted Routh and shot at him, causing him to flee, and he was later arrested in a neighboring county. Routh appeared in federal court in West Palm Beach to face charges. The incident raises questions about how an armed suspect was able to get so close to Trump, particularly given a similar incident in July where a gunman fired at Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania.
