Supreme Court Upholds Order Requiring USAID to Pay Foreign Aid Groups
The US Supreme Court issued a 5-4 decision upholding a lower court order requiring USAid to make payments of $1.5 billion to foreign aid groups. The majority opinion was joined by liberal justices and conservatives John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett. Conservative Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh dissented from the decision. This ruling represents a defeat for the Trump administration's attempt to withhold payment to foreign aid organisations.
