Stonehenge Study Reveals Altar Stone Originated in Scotland

Archaeologists have long known that some of Stonehenge's central megaliths originated from Wales, with a 200km journey to the site on Salisbury Plain. However, a recent study has revealed that the largest "bluestone" at Stonehenge, known as the "altar stone", actually came from the north-east corner of Scotland, a distance of approximately 125 miles. This finding contradicts previous theories that the altar stone was sourced from west Wales, a notion that has been held since the 1920s. The study's results suggest that prehistoric people were able to transport the massive stone, which is 5 meters in length, to the site, although it is unclear whether it was carried by boat or over land.
