Singapore battles to contain and clean up massive oil spill along its coastline

A major oil spill occurred in Singapore's southern coastline after a Dutch-flagged dredging boat collided with a Singaporean fuel ship. The incident happened on Friday afternoon when the Vox Maxima, a Netherlands-flagged dredger, struck the Marine Honor, a Singaporean fuel supply ship, damaging its cargo tank and causing it to leak oil into the sea. According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the oil leak has been contained, but not before spreading along shorelines including Sentosa, Labrador Nature Reserve, Southern Islands, Marina South Pier, and East Coast Park.
