Severe flooding in Kentucky and surrounding areas claims at least 9 lives as heavy rain causes widespread destruction

A devastating flood in the southeastern United States has resulted in widespread destruction and loss of life. In Kentucky, a total of eight fatalities have been reported, with four of those deaths occurring in Hart County, where a 73-year-old man was found dead in floodwaters. The governor, Andy Beshear, has confirmed eight deaths in his state. A disaster declaration has been approved by President Donald Trump for Kentucky. Other states in the region, including Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina, have been under storm-related alerts, with more than half a million households without power on Sunday night.
