Several migrants die attempting to cross the English Channel

At least 12 migrants died off the northern French coast when their boat capsized, according to the Pas-de-Calais prefecture. This incident is the deadliest such disaster of the year, with a total of at least 37 people having lost their lives in migrant crossings, including 25 who died in previous incidents. The accident occurred shortly after the vessel set off, and it happened less than two weeks after the previous deadliest disaster.
