Sam Bankman-Fried appeals FTX fraud conviction and 25-year sentence

Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the now-bankrupt FTX cryptocurrency exchange, has appealed his conviction and 25-year prison sentence following his November 2023 trial. He was found guilty on seven counts of fraud, embezzlement, and conspiracy. The exact grounds for his appeal are not yet clear. Bankman-Fried rose to prominence in the crypto world, becoming a billionaire before turning 30 and gracing magazine covers. However, his rapid rise came crashing down when he was convicted in November. The defense lawyer, Marc Mukasey, announced plans for an appeal to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
