Russian doctor jailed for five years over alleged Ukraine war remarks

Dr. Nadezhda Buyanova, a 68-year-old pediatrician, was arrested and charged with spreading false information about the Russian military. According to reports, she made statements to her patients and their families, including referring to the fathers of her patients as "legitimate targets" for Kyiv's troops, and blaming Moscow for the war. This led to her being reported to the police by the mother of a 7-year-old boy she was treating. Buyanova was initially placed under house arrest, but was later moved to pre-trial detention.
