Russian decree orders third increase in troop numbers since Ukraine invasion to reach 1.5 million

Russian President Putin has issued a decree to increase the regular size of the Russian army by 180,000 troops, bringing the overall number of military personnel to nearly 2.4 million, including 1.5 million troops. This is the third increase in troop numbers since the invasion of Ukraine. The new staffing will come into effect in December.
