Russian Pilot Who Defected to Ukraine Found Dead in Spain

Maksym Kuzminov, a Russian helicopter pilot, defected to Ukraine last year and landed at a Ukrainian military airfield. Two of his crew members were shot dead while fleeing the airfield. Kuzminov was reportedly found dead in the town of Villajoyosa, near Alicante, Spain. The exact cause of his death is unclear, but multiple reports suggest he was murdered and a burnt-out car was discovered nearby. Ukrainian military intelligence confirmed his death, but did not specify the cause. However, other sources reported that Kuzminov's body was found with at least six gunshot wounds. The Spanish police have confirmed a gunshot victim was found in the town, but have not disclosed the identity of the victim.
