Russia launches biggest drone attack on Ukraine in 7 months
Ukraine has reportedly repelled a massive drone attack launched by Russia, with Ukrainian air defense systems shooting down 89 Iranian-made explosive drones and another missile overnight. The capital Kyiv was the primary target of the attack, which lasted over seven hours and consisted of two waves of drones. Despite the large scale of the attack, there were no reported hits to residential or critical infrastructure, and no casualties in the Kyiv region. Ukrainian forces claimed to have successfully shot down all 89 drones, with no immediate damage or injuries reported as a result of the bombardment. This attack marks one of the largest drone attacks on Ukraine since the start of the war, with both Ukraine and Russia relying heavily on explosive drones during the conflict.
The majority of the UAV [unmanned aerial vehicle] debris fell outside of the settlements.
We need sufficiently courageous decisions from our partners - enough air defence systems, enough range.
Ukrainians can fully protect their skies from Russian strikes when they have sufficient supplies.
