President Biden Clarifies Stance on Trump's Threat to Democracy, Denies Intent to Target Him

President Joe Biden acknowledged that his previous statement about putting a "bullseye" on Donald Trump was a mistake. He told Lester Holt of NBC News that Democrats should have focused more on Trump's policies and false statements instead of targeting the former president personally. This comes as about a dozen Republicans have blamed Biden and Democrats for inciting the attempt on Trump's life. However, Biden argued that his opponent's rhetoric was more incendiary and that there was little focus on Trump's agenda. In an interview with Holt, Biden also stated "you can't only love the country when you win," suggesting that patriotism should be demonstrated regardless of political affiliation.
