Pope Francis misses Palm Sunday homily during Holy Week services
Pope Francis surprised many during the Palm Sunday Mass by choosing not to deliver his homily. Instead, he blessed the palm fronds and olive branches while seated. The pope, who is 87 years old, had been experiencing health issues in recent weeks, including bouts of bronchitis, cold, and flu. Two days prior to the event, there were concerns about his health due to his decision to skip the strenuous speech at the outset of Easter week. However, he spoke clearly before and after the homily that was read by other clergy members. The pope also did not participate in the procession of cardinals around the obelisk at the start of the Mass.
