Peru hit by 7.2-magnitude earthquake
A powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck near the central coast of Peru, approximately 5 miles west of Atiquipa, at 12:36 a.m. local time. The quake was felt in neighboring areas of Ayacucho and Ica. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the magnitude.
