Passenger plane and military helicopter collide midair near Washington DC, many feared dead

An American Airlines regional passenger jet carrying 60 passengers and four crew members collided in mid-air with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter carrying three soldiers on a training flight. The collision occurred near Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C. as the plane was approaching for landing after flying from Wichita, Kansas. The plane crashed into the Potomac River, and a search and rescue operation is underway to recover the bodies.
