Paraguay expels visiting Chinese envoy who urged lawmakers to reject Taiwan

Paraguay has expelled a senior Chinese diplomat, Xu Wei, from the country on the grounds of alleged interference in domestic affairs. The diplomat, who served as the senior Chinese envoy to Latin America, was given 24 hours to leave the country, with Paraguay declaring him persona non grata. The reason for the expulsion appears to be due to Xu's comments to lawmakers, in which he allegedly told them that they must choose between relations with Taiwan and China.
