Pakistan's former PM Imran Khan applies to be Oxford University chancellor from prison
Imran Khan, a former cricket star and honorary fellow of Oxford's Keble College, has applied to become the next chancellor of the University of Oxford. Khan, who has been imprisoned for over a year on charges he claims are politically motivated, submitted his application ahead of the deadline. The ceremonial post of chancellor is considered prestigious and important. Khan's party confirmed that he had instructed his team to submit the application, which was formally submitted via his aide Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari. Khan's commitment to his principles remains unchanged, according to his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf spokesman. Khan's application comes after the current chancellor, Chris Patten, announced in February that he would be stepping down.
