Nigeria Ethnic Tensions
Over 280 schoolchildren missing after armed men storm Nigerian school
In the past few days, there have been reports of mass kidnappings of students from schools in northwestern Nigeria. According to various sources, between 287 and 312 students were abducted from LEA Primary and Secondary School in Kaduna State during an attack by armed bandits.
Security forces have since launched a large-scale operation in the northwest region of Nigeria to locate and rescue the missing children. Analysts and activists have criticized the failure of intelligence and slow security response as contributing factors to this mass abduction, which is one of the largest school kidnappings in the last decade in Nigeria.
