Orangutan Uses Medicinal Plant to Treat Wound in Rare Observation
Researchers have observed an orangutan, named Rakus, intentionally treating a wound on his face with a medicinal plant. The male Sumatran orangutan was seen chewing leaves from a climbing plant called Akar Kuning and repeatedly applying the juice to the wound. This behavior is unprecedented in wild animals, as it is typically humans who use plants for medicinal purposes.
